OK so we've changed our name. Relax. The old name has served us well for the last couple of years but as we prepare to launch our "Liquid Sun" EP in August, we decided the time was right to change. So from now on, we shall be known as THE DAYLIGHT BRAVES. The EP is to be launched on August 12th at Jive Bar. We're currently in the process of sorting out some tour dates for the Eastern States in August and September so stay tuned! For now though please take the time to visit THE DAYLIGHT BRAVES new blog here.
Thanks

Finished at last...
Holy smokes, it's done! We've just finished mastering our brand new EP, entitled 'Liquid Sun'. Ryan and I went into Disk-Edits this morning and sat in with the master of mastering, Neville Clarke. Everything is sounding supreme and we're all very happy with the outcome. Here's hoping you'll enjoy it as well. We're going to push the 1st track of the EP, 'Summer At Last', over the next month or two before the launch on FRIDAY 12TH AUGUST. Yep, CAPS lock. I think you know. Anyway, enough of this rubbish, here's the link...
Jay Walker and The Pedestrians - Summer At Last
Oh wait... do you guys and girls like 'Dirty's Soccer Masterclass'? I thought so. The third instalment has just arrived, and let me tell you, it's an absolute corker. Have a looksie. You won't be disappointed!
Thanks for your time,

Mastering
So this EP business is coming along nicely now, with only a couple more things to do before the Launch on AUGUST 12th @ JIVE. Yeah, I CAPS locked that bitch so you won't forget. Anyway, we'll be mastering the 6 track EP this Friday, and then it'll be sent off to Perth to be made into 350 of the finest compact discs you will ever set your eyes on. I think it's probably ok to let you cats know a few deets about the CD. Here is the track listing:
JAY WALKER AND THE PEDESTRIANS - LIQUID SUN
1/ Summer At Last
2/ Girl Don't Know
3/ Red Stripe
4/ Absent Ground
5/ Zeitgeist
6/ Solemn Boy
These may or may not mean anything to you.
I could let two cats out of the same bag right now, but I'm not going to. You'll have to wait til next time to find out the supports for the night. Unlucky.

Pike

The Old Days
Our mate Lachy played some fantastic Fender Rhodes piano and trumpet on our upcoming EP, and he also happens to be one of our two valued blog followers. The other day he was digging around his old video collection and found this gem.
Back in Year 10 we were forced to do Community Care, much like young German kids many years ago who were forced to join the Hitler Youth. Anyhow it actually turned out to be pretty enjoyable as we were assigned to a ratty nursing home and were given carte blanche to take a keyboard along and entertain the residents by pressing the demo button.
In our eight or so visits to various nursing homes, no one ever caught on to our little scam, and although it was designed purely to con the elderly residents, even the staff believed I was the finest exponent of the ivory (plastic) keys since Chick Corea. Who was I to shatter the beliefs of these spellbound people as they burst into rapturous applause at the end of each number?
A demo version of My Heart Will Go On by the inimitable Celine Dion is also apparently on tape somewhere, however until that is uncovered you'll have to settle for this.

EP Launch
Our EP launch has been locked in for Friday the 12th of August at Jive. Support acts will be announced over the next month or so. We'll be polishing off the mastering process in June and we'll then have the masters sent to Perth to have the CDs printed!
What does this mean for you? It means you need to shelve any birthday parties, weddings, funerals etc and steam it up on the Jive dancefloor come August.
Here are my favourite ways to sign off a letter, in order:
1. Firm regards
2. The warmest wishes
3. Moist regards
4. In Jesus' name
5. Peace be upon thee
6. Get fucked
7. Your's moistly
8. Heavens to Betsy
9. Never speak to me again
10. Jeers
Also, here's a preview of another EP track.
Fare thee well,
Ryan

Video?
In the last week or 2 we have been recording, playing with some great bands, seeing some great bands, and generally wasting time. Heres what we have been up to.

The Last Supper: Food of Champions
Preparation prior to a show is essential in reaching your optimum individual output. Ensuring each member of the band receives adequate dietary fibre is of utmost importance to the group but particularly Juan Tom Stevens, acclaimed band Nutritionist and Dietician.
Options are plentiful due to the ample time between band equipment load in and actually performing, but this decision is always made as a group. When Jay Walker and the Pedestrians play Ed Castle, the likely choice is to capitalise on the $10 menu, however some of us with the palette and the stomach for some of the finer ingredients cast their eyes upon the 50s diner, that is Hungry Jacks. Sure, Subway is around the corner, sure, and the band could down about two feet per capita, however Dirty Harry refuses to go down without a fight.
Dirty Harry approaches the Hungry Jacks' cashier, hands in pockets, as if he was in a Spaghetti Western duelling battle with the young Indian trainee, ready to hastily withdraw his revolver or most likely $20 note. He stares down the employee, and lays the most powerful nod and subtle scrunch up of the nose, in a deadly silence, that would cause any fast food merchant to freeze in fear. The young lady appears baffled, and the assumption was ineffective.. so then he says it "A Large Ultimate Double Whopper Meal please".
The regular intake of Hungry Jacks, KFC, McDonald's, and Subway to an extent, has genuinely proved that the only way to harness all those intricate energies to perform at your pinnacle, is to eat the Fastest Food on the planet. IT could just save your band.
Please try the KFC Double. It's two chicken fillets, hold the bread, double cheese, bacon, and it tastes great so.. excellent.
Can You Handle It?

Recording
We spent another full day at Hillside Studios yesterday cutting another cuttla tracks. We nearly finished both apart from the vocal track on new surf/pop song Girl Don't Know. We'll be heading in next week to apply the finishing touches to the new 6-track EP which is yet to have a name, however it'll hopefully be titled "Jay Walker and the Pedestrians....with compliments" if I have any say in the matter.

Blenheim Fest and Fowler's Live
The Jay Walkers have got a busy Easter weekend ahead, playing Blenheim Fest along with our good mates Little Rhino plus a tonne of other cool bands and DJs. Regrettably Little Rhino will suffer the wrath of the Jay Walkers' footy prowess, with the latter tipped to rack up far more hard ball gets and inside-50s.
On Saturday night we're playing an all-ages gig at Fowler's Live with our mortal enemies the Shiny Brights, along with Brisbane's The Belligerents. It's sure to be a hoot, and on top of that, Stevo has already laid the groundwork for wooing the underage ladies. Go Stevo!
Here's a picture of Matt Hills' scooter, as promised:

ASO plays Miles Davis
The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra featuring James Morrison is playing the complete works of Miles Davis at the Ent Centre on the 13th and 14th of May. You guys should definitely check it out as it'll be sweet. The great man is a major inspiration for our skiffle Jazz stylings. Here's a picture of Miles Davis in his prime.
